On June 25, 2021, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized China's dedication to the United Nations, highlighting the significance of the 50th anniversary of China's lawful seat in the UN.

Speaking at the Lanting Forum on China and the UN: Cooperation in 50 Years and Beyond in Beijing, Wang Yi stated that China will continue to make all-out efforts in participating in UN affairs, safeguard the status of the UN, and promote the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

Wang Yi noted that the UN General Assembly's adoption of Resolution 2758 on October 25, 1971, marked a significant victory for New China's diplomacy, justice, and fairness in the world, and a victory for the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

As the world's largest developing country and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has consistently honored the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and promoted the spirit and approach of multilateralism, Wang Yi said.

At this new historical starting point, China will continue to uphold the banner of true multilateralism and work together with the rest of the world to forge ahead for greater peace and development of mankind, Wang Yi added.
