June 21, 2021, marked the beginning of a contentious period in Runda, one of Kenya's most prestigious residential estates. A group of tenants and homeowners wrote to the Runda Association, expressing their discontent with the delayed election process and the quality of services offered by the association.

According to the letter, penned by Ougo and partners Associate on behalf of Rael Lubasi, Naveed Sheikh, and Danstone Okwani, some officials had been in office for 15 years, contravening the association's constitution. The faction also alleged that they were denied critical information, including the date of the next annual general meeting.

Helga Schroeder, the Runda Association chairperson, responded to the complaints, dismissing the allegations as sweeping and generic. She explained that elections were conducted in accordance with the association's constitution and that there were no term limits for committee members, except for the chairperson.

However, the dispute persists, with some residents complaining about deteriorating security services. They alleged that some boda boda operators were not properly vetted, exposing residents to criminal elements. The situation has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the Runda Association in maintaining a safe and secure environment for its members.
