On June 26, 2021, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed a nine-member selection panel to recruit five new commissioners of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The panel, led by Thomas Koyier, will seek to replace Commissioners Beatrice Adu, Mbarak Twahir, Kinoti Imanyara, Albert Ekirapa, and Tache Gollo whose terms expired on March 19.
The recruitment process will prioritize regional balance, gender balance, and give equal opportunities to persons with disabilities.
The move aims to hasten the reconstitution of the teachers' welfare agency, following the appointments of Chairperson Jamleck Muturi and four other members in May.
