On June 26, 2021, Sauti Sol's lead singer Bien-Aimé Baraza revealed that the group had recorded a song with Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz.
According to Bien, the collaboration was not a priority for Sauti Sol, but rather an opportunity to learn from Diamond's business approach.
"When I went to visit Diamond, it was not about music but business," Bien said. "There are some ventures we want to partner with Wasafi, and besides that, he is one of the biggest artists in Africa."
Bien praised Diamond's mindset, saying that he was treated like royalty in Tanzania and that Sauti Sol is loved and revered in the country.
"I liked Diamond's mindset, how he conducts his business and how Tanzanian artists value themselves in a way that is so attractive that they are recognized even in Kenya," Bien said.
Despite not having collaborated with Diamond before, Bien expressed admiration for the Tanzanian artist's success and business acumen.
"He is brilliant; I admire Diamond from here to the end of the world," Bien said. "I just feel like he is someone who really went for his dream unapologetically and the stride he's done."
