Published on June 25, 2021, a time when Kenyans were known for their generosity, but also their short temper.

Actor Peter Kamau Kinuthia, alias Omosh, has found himself on the receiving end of harsh criticism from celebrities and social media users after he made a second plea for donations.

Four months ago, Omosh had appealed to Kenyans to help him get back on his feet after a bad season, but it seems his latest plea has fallen on deaf ears.

He had claimed that the previous donations were not enough to meet his needs, and was now asking for more to buy a camera and other equipment for production purposes.

However, his fresh plea has elicited hundreds of reactions online, with many advising him to find alternative means of making a living, such as taking up manual jobs or starting a small business.

Some of the comments from top celebrities and social media users include:

  • "He should feel ashamed of himself. He shouldn’t get any airtime to broadcast nonsense." - DJ Shiti
  • "I remember I sacrificed for this man. I thought he would use his brains well. I was wrong. I can’t make another mistake." - Ali Nur
  • "Omosh is now a beggar. If he can’t work like other men, let him sleep hungry. We also have our own problems." - Muthee Kiengei
  • "Some people never learn. We did our part and we are not going there again. This is total nonsense. Do whatever you want with your life." - Jalang’o
  • "So according to Omosh he preferred to pay debts first instead of starting a business, is he really a Kikuyu? We don’t do that." - Weshi Wahito
  • "Nobody owes Omosh a living, but don’t be harsh. No amount of money is too much for someone struggling with alcohol addiction. If you give him 1K, you are feeding his addiction. If you give him 500K, you are killing him. If you give him 1M you are killing his drinking buddies." - Joshua Njenga
  • "This Omosh story gives credence to a common phrase on these streets about the culture of wealth creation and sustenance – take away everything from a wealthy person & he’ll still end up wealthy; give everything to a reckless man and he’ll still end up poor. Wealth is a culture." - Masinde 001
  • "Nobody is bashing Omosh on this but Kenyans are speaking the truth! Even his Friends in the entertainment Industry are disappointed! KUOMBA SIO MBAYA, WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMS! But ukisaidiwa jisaidie please! What he received was a colossal amount that could change his life back." - Warui John
