Kenya has recorded a significant increase in Covid-19 cases, with 646 new cases announced by the Ministry of Health on June 25, 2021.
The new cases bring the country's total caseload to 181,885, with a positivity rate of 10.1 per cent.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the latest figure was derived from 6,429 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 tests to 1,933,402.
Of the new cases, 626 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners, with 351 being males and 295 females. The youngest is a seven-month-old baby while the oldest is 95.
Meanwhile, 391 patients have recovered from the disease, with 211 from the home-based and isolation care programme, while 180 are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 123,853.
Unfortunately, 18 more patients have succumbed, raising the death toll to 3,556.
There are 1,017 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide while 6,653 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.
Additionally, 102 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 33 of whom are on ventilatory support, 52 on supplemental oxygen and 17 patients under observation.
