Located in the heart of Nairobi, Karura Forest Sigiria is a hidden gem for fitness enthusiasts. The forest offers a serene environment for outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, and yoga, making it an ideal spot to shed excess weight.
As someone who has been struggling with weight gain due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was excited to explore Sigiria and see if it could help me get back on track. With the forest's scenic trails and peaceful atmosphere, I was confident that I could find a suitable spot to start my fitness journey.
After paying the entrance fee of Sh100 for Kenyan adults and Sh50 for children, we began our 10km hike. The forest rangers were friendly and ensured that we followed all the necessary safety protocols, including temperature checks and vehicle inspections.
One of the highlights of our hike was the opportunity to spot various wildlife, including a dik-dik, which was a rare sighting. The forest's tranquility and beauty were truly breathtaking, and I felt invigorated by the experience.
Unlike other popular hiking spots in Nairobi, Sigiria was surprisingly uncrowded, allowing us to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere without any distractions. The 10km trail was challenging, but the scenic views and the sound of chirping birds and howling monkeys made it an unforgettable experience.
After completing our hike, we stopped by the coffee shop at the entrance, where we grabbed a quick bite and reflected on our experience. Sigiria is indeed a perfect place to shed excess weight, and I plan to return soon to tackle the more challenging trails.
