On June 25, 2021, Raila Odinga Jr. found himself in a Twitter controversy after the platform denied him a verification badge.

According to his Twitter page, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) had registered him as a member of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party, which came as a shock to many.

As the son of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga, it was expected that he would be affiliated with his father's party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

However, in a surprising move, Raila Jr. revealed that he had been registered as a member of the ANC party, which led to Twitter denying him the verification badge.

He expressed his disappointment on Twitter, stating that he would have to wait 30 days before submitting another request for verification.
