On Monday evening, a tragic event shook the community at Yanyonge Primary School in Mwingi, Kitui, as headteacher Kioko Mutie took his own life.
According to sources, the 46-year-old teacher hanged himself in his office, leaving behind no suicide note or clear motive.
Confirming the incident, Area Assistant Chief Mulinge Wambua stated that Kioko Mutie was a vibrant individual with no signs of depression, contradicting the circumstances surrounding his death.
Teachers and parents who knew the deceased headteacher described him as an education enthusiast who always arrived early at school to begin teaching.
The body of Kioko Mutie was taken to Mwingi hospital mortuary for further examination, as police launched an investigation to determine the cause of his tragic death.
