Kenya Reports 741 New Covid-19 Cases Amid Rising Positivity Rate

On June 24, 2021, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that Kenya's positivity rate had risen to 10.7% with a total of 741 new Covid-19 cases reported.

The new cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi reporting 146 cases, followed by Busia with 92 cases, and Siaya with 76 cases.

As of June 24, 2021, a total of 1,059 patients were admitted in various health facilities, while 6,599 patients were under the Home Based Isolation and Care program.

One hundred patients were in the ICU, with 36 on ventilatory support and 51 on supplemental oxygen. Additionally, 140 patients were on supplemental oxygen, with 131 in general wards and 9 in High Dependency Units.

On the same day, 99 patients recovered from Covid-19, with 52 recovering from the Home Based & Isolation Care program and 47 from various health facilities.

As of June 24, 2021, total recoveries stood at 123,462, with 89,450 from the Home Based Care and Isolation program and 34,012 from various health facilities.

Twenty-four patients succumbed to the disease, with the cumulative fatalities now standing at 3,538.

As of June 24, 2021, 1,220,151 vaccines had been administered across the country, with 998,073 first doses and 222,442 second doses.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 22.3%, with the majority being males at 56% and females at 44%.
