On June 24, 2021, a three-judge bench of the High Court delivered a ruling on the appointment of Anne Kananu as Nairobi Deputy Governor.
The bench, comprising Justices Said Chitembwe, Wilfrida Okwany, and Weldon Korir, found that the nomination, vetting, and swearing-in of Ms. Kananu were all conducted in accordance with the law.
According to the ruling, former Governor Mike Sonko's nomination of Ms. Kananu was voluntary, and his mandate ended there.
