On June 24, 2021, the WRC Safari Rally roared to life in Nairobi, Kenya, with Carl 'Flash' Tundo setting the tone for the competition.
Competing in the RC2 class, Tundo took the top spot in the Super Special Stage at Kasarani, edging out his VW Polo rival Tejveer Rai by a mere 3.1 seconds.
"It's awesome – it's such an experience. I am going to lap this up for the next three days, and hopefully we get to the end," Tundo said after the event.
Meanwhile, in an exciting display of youthful energy, Hamza Anwar outpaced his rival and friend McRae Kimathi, claiming the top spot in the all-youngster affair.
"I didn't expect it – I have only done 15km in the car. It was a bit looser than I expected, but we had good fun," Anwar said.
