On June 24, 2021, a military helicopter crash-landed in Ol Tepesi, Ngong, Kajiado County, leaving a trail of destruction and loss of life.
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has confirmed that several officers died in the crash, but the exact number and their identities remain undisclosed due to the sensitivity of the matter.
According to Colonel Zipporah Kioko, KDF spokesperson, the process of communicating with the families to relay the information and KDF condolences is underway.
Some of the victims sustained injuries and have been evacuated to safety, with the injured being airlifted to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi.
The entire KDF fraternity wishes them a quick recovery, as stated by Colonel Kioko.
Investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the crash, with aircraft accident investigators at the crash site.
The KDF thanks the locals and all the first responders for their assistance during the rescue efforts.
