On Thursday, a partial building collapse sent shockwaves through the Miami community, prompting a massive response from fire rescue units.

The incident occurred at 8777 Collins Avenue in the Surfside area, just north of Miami Beach, according to the Miami Beach Police Department.

Champlain Towers South, a residential building constructed in 1981, was the site of the collapse. The building, which has 136 units, was partially destroyed, with debris scattered on the ground and rubble piled high.

As of 4:30 a.m. Eastern, the police reported no deaths or injuries, but the situation was still unfolding.
