On June 24, 2021, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino revealed that the ODM Party was working with other parties to ensure Raila Odinga's landslide victory in the 2022 elections.
As part of his efforts, Babu Owino has been trying to convince former NASA coalition members to join forces and support Raila's presidency.
However, his plan has been met with criticism, with many questioning why all four former NASA members want to run for president.
In a Facebook post, Babu Owino shared a photo of himself with military officers from another country, stating that they were his friends and that their conversations centered around security matters between their home country and Embakasi East.
He also asked the military men to provide security for Raila Odinga in 2022, claiming that he would be the president-elect of Kenya.
Kenyan citizens were not pleased with Babu Owino's announcement, accusing him of trying to bring in foreign interference in the country's affairs.
As a member of the ODM party's inner circle, Babu Owino has a history of protecting Raila Odinga and the ODM brigade, particularly during the 2017 elections when he spoke out against systemic electoral fraud.
