Published on June 24, 2021, a survey of 3,000 Apple consumers by SellCell, a marketplace for used phones, sheds light on their thoughts about the latest iOS 15 update.
While some respondents were enthusiastic about the update, with 28.1% describing it as 'somewhat' exciting, a significant majority, 52.6%, found it only 'maybe' or 'not at all' exciting.
Top Features in iOS 15 ¶
The improved Wallet app, which supports identity cards, was a highlight for 23% of respondents, followed by the advanced search function in Spotlight, which impressed 17.3% of the group.
The new 'Where is?' feature, which helps locate turned-off or factory-reset devices, was also well-received, with 14.2% of respondents endorsing it.
However, other features, such as improvements to the News app, the refreshed Health app, and the new Apple Maps, failed to impress, with less than 1% of respondents finding them 'extremely' exciting.
Features Missing in iOS 15 ¶
Respondents also shared their thoughts on features that are absent in iOS 15 or iPadOS 15. The top requests include:
- Adding intuitive widgets (32.3% of respondents)
- Always-on display for time and notifications (21% of respondents)
- Professional apps, such as Xcode and Final Cut Pro, on the iPad (14.9% of respondents)
- Better support for external displays on the iPad (13.2% of respondents)
- Support for multiple user accounts (8% of respondents)
- Split-screen multitasking on the iPhone (5.4% of respondents)
- App lock feature using Face ID or password (3.1% of respondents)
