On June 24, 2021, a peculiar situation emerged at Kisumu Central Police Station, where an officer, Thomas Thembara, who had been transferred to Uasin Gishu county two weeks prior, refused to leave his post.

Thembara's decision has led to a power struggle with Paul Muturi, the newly appointed OCS, who is now at the center of the drama.

According to an officer at the station, the two men are engaged in a daily struggle for control, with Thembara insisting on remaining at the station.

"The officer has refused to go and insists that he must remain here. It’s drama daily for the past two weeks," the officer said.

The Nyanza Regional Police Commander, Karanja Muiruri, has declined to comment on the matter.
