Kenya Confirms 622 New Covid-19 Cases, Total Reaches 180,498

On Wednesday, June 23rd, Kenya confirmed 622 new Covid-19 cases from samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the country's coronavirus caseload to 180,498.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the cases were detected in 6,236 samples tested, raising the total to 1,920,018. The country's positivity rate stands at 10.0 per cent.

Of the new cases, 590 are Kenyans, while 32 are foreigners, with 369 being males and 253 females. The youngest case is a two-month-old infant, and the oldest is 93 years old.

Unfortunately, 30 patients have succumbed to the disease, taking the national death toll to 3,514.

Meanwhile, 313 patients have recovered from the disease, with 206 recovering from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program and 107 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 123,363.

There are currently 1,053 patients admitted in various health facilities, while 6,612 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Additionally, 101 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 33 on ventilatory support, 51 on supplemental oxygen, and 17 patients under observation.

Another 135 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, with 125 in general wards and 10 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi reporting 115 cases, Siaya 83, and Busia 69.
