June 24, 2021 - In a dramatic turn of events, Germany came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw against Hungary in their Euro 2020 Group F match on June 23, 2021, at the Football Arena Munich in Munich, Germany.
Adam Szalai's diving header in the 11th minute gave Hungary the lead, but Germany drew level through Kai Havertz's goal in the 66th minute.
However, Hungary retook the lead just seconds after the restart, with András Schäfer heading the ball into the net. But Germany's late surge was led by coach Joachim Loew, who threw on substitutes to gain the point needed to progress to the last 16.
Leon Goretzka's strike in the late stages of the game provided Germany with the life-line they needed to secure their spot in the last 16.
