On June 20, 2021, a group of Makongeni youth were arrested by DCI officers over allegations of robbery with violence.

The arrest came after Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok lodged a complaint with the police, claiming that the youth had robbed him with violence.

However, the youth claim that the allegations are false and that Imwatok was actually seeking revenge after being heckled during a football tournament on Sunday.

According to eyewitnesses, Imwatok was reportedly paying back the youth for their actions during the tournament.

Imwatok denied the allegations, stating that the youth vandalized his car and stole his watch during the tournament.

‘‘They whisked me broke my car, eye glasses, robbed me my cash and attacked my security details as if they were dealing with criminals I can’t take this I have a right like any other Kenyans let them not misuse my position to vandalise my properties,’’ Imwatok said.

Imwatok has vowed to take the matter to court, stating that he will demonstrate with clear evidence of what happened.
