On June 23, 2021, a woman filed a lawsuit at the High Court in Nairobi against Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, alleging that he had refused to take responsibility for her unborn child.

The woman, who has been in an intimate relationship with Lusaka since 2018, claims that the speaker turned his back on her after she became pregnant three months ago and has refused to pick her calls.

According to the woman's lawyer, Danstan Omari, Lusaka had insisted that she terminate the pregnancy, but she declined, stating that she had not been intimate with any other man apart from the speaker.

The woman has been experiencing pregnancy complications that threaten her life and that of her unborn child, and she is unable to meet medical costs for pre-natal clinics.

Omari alleged that Lusaka, despite being a man of means, has refused to take care of the woman's pre-natal clinics, perhaps in the hope of stressing her and causing a miscarriage of their unborn child.

The woman is seeking Sh25 million to cater for the welfare of her unborn baby and pre-natal medical care, or alternatively, a monthly maintenance fee of Sh200,000, as well as inclusion in Lusaka's medical cover to safeguard the welfare of her unborn child.
