On June 21, 2021, High Court judge Justice James Makau authorized a lawsuit against Speaker of the Senate Kenneth Lusaka, who has been accused of being a deadbeat dad.

The woman, who claims to have been in a relationship with Lusaka since 2018, alleges that she is carrying his three-month-old pregnancy.

Through her lawyer Danstan Omari, the woman has accused Lusaka of refusing to take commitment, alleging that he has been instructing her to abort the pregnancy.

She wants the court to coerce Lusaka to acknowledge and accept commitment for their unborn child, saying she was ready for a prenatal paternity test to substantiate it is his.

The woman is also seeking Kshs 200,000.00 as monthly upkeep for the unborn child or a lump sum of Kshs 25M.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has joined other Kenyans in condemning Lusaka over the trending story.

However, after facing enormous objections on social media, Lusaka has declined to be part of the ongoing matter but has not kept off social media.
