On June 23, 2021, the DCI launched a crackdown on a group of robbers terrorizing motorists along Southern Bypass.
According to reports, the suspects, aged between 21 and 32, were identified through a tip-off from a witness who had been robbed.
The witness, who had been left for dead, managed to escape and report the incident to the authorities, leading to the arrest of the six suspects.
During the operation, the police recovered 112 stolen items, believed to have been stolen from motorists.
The total number of suspects arrested in connection with the robberies along Southern Bypass has now reached 15.
Notably, the group has been responsible for a string of robberies, with some suspects as young as teenagers being arrested, and in one case, a suspect was arrested after their accomplice was caught after they had disabled their vehicle to escape.
