On 26th May 2021, authorities discovered a large quantity of gas cylinders at Salama Gas Limited's LPG storage and filling facility in Embakasi, Nairobi. The facility, owned by Law and Power Kenya, was found to be refilling various brands of Liquid Petroleum Gas without authority from the brand owners.
Among the gas cylinders found at the facility were K-Gas, Total, Lake Gas, Men Gas, Hashi Gas, Hadi Gas, and Super Gas. The two businessmen, Abdi Maalin Ali and Mustafa Adan Ibrahim, were accused of dealing with both filled and empty LPG cylinders of other brands for gain without prior written consent from the licensed owners.
Abdi Maalin Ali denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ndungi. Mustafa Adan Ibrahim was issued summons but failed to appear in court. Ali was released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000.
