June 23, 2021, marked the beginning of a tumultuous period at Kisumu Central Police station, where an officer's refusal to leave his post has led to a leadership crisis.

Thomas Thembara, who was transferred to Uasin Gishu county two weeks ago, has allegedly refused to vacate his office, sparking a power struggle with his replacement, Paul Muturi.

According to an officer who wished to remain anonymous, the situation has become 'drama daily' as the two officers scramble to attend to clients and vie for control of the station's resources.

"The officer has refused to go and insists that he must remain here," the officer told K24 Digital in a statement.

The Nyanza Regional Police Commander, Karanja Muiruri, was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
