Introduction of New M-PESA App ¶
On June 23, 2021, Safaricom unveiled its new M-PESA app, designed to provide users with a seamless way to handle their daily transactions.
The app is available for download on both Google Play and Apple Store, and it requires a minimum Android version of 4.4 or iOS 9 to function.
Users must also have a M-PESA account, a SIM card connected to their M-PESA account, and mobile data turned on to use the app.
Key Features of the New M-PESA App ¶
The new M-PESA app features biometric verification, allowing users to securely log in to their accounts using their fingerprints or facial recognition.
Users can also scan QR codes to initiate paybill, buy goods, send money, and withdraw transactions.
The app's home screen provides users with a summary of their M-PESA balance, spending, and statements, as well as quick actions for sending and requesting money, paying bills, and buying airtime.
Users can also access their statements infinitely from the app's homepage and view transaction details, including codes.
Send Money Feature ¶
The new M-PESA app allows users to send money to multiple recipients at once, request money from other M-PESA users, and scan QR codes to initiate send money transactions.
Users can also customize a list of favorite people to send money to and view a list of frequent senders.
Pay Bill Feature ¶
Users can access the pay bill menu from the app's home screen and subscribe, view, and pay all due bills pushed by respective businesses.
The app also features a list of popular bill categories, including electricity, TV, and internet, with various businesses listed.
Users can also scan QR codes to initiate pay bill transactions and view a list of favorite billers and frequent billers.
