Published on June 22, 2021, a directive by Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion to postpone the union's election has been met with resistance from a section of the leadership.

KNUT Chairman Collins Oyuu has dismissed the directive, stating that the elections date is intact and that Sossion's move was a cowardly attempt to avoid the ballot.

According to Oyuu, the elections were planned when Sossion was part of the National Executive Council, and it was shocking to learn that he advised the Ministry of Health to postpone the elections.

Oyuu has called on Sossion to either quit peacefully or participate in the elections, stating that the postponement is not true and is merely a political ploy.

However, a letter seen by Ghetto Radio News shows that the union was cleared by the Ministry of Health to proceed with the elections as planned.

KNUT had initially planned to conduct the elections on June 26 at Stima Club Ruaraka, with measures in place to ensure a smooth process.
