On June 22, 2021, Citizen TV's senior political affairs reporter Stephen Letoo found himself at the center of a social media storm. His Facebook page, which he normally uses to engage with his online fans, had been compromised, sharing a series of controversial messages.
According to his followers, the page had been posting frequent and provocative content, including messages that used vulgar language. Some of the posts were also deemed to be demeaning to women.
One of the posts read: “No matter how humble a crocodile is it will never be a lizard.” Another post stated: “No matter how one adores Arimis, he will always admire the opposite gender.”
When one of his colleagues, Fayzah Wanjiru, raised concerns about the posts, a reply purportedly from Letoo claimed that he was simply sharing wisdom from his late grandmother.
However, Wanjiru doubted the authenticity of the reply, suggesting that the account may have been hacked. Lately, hackers have been targeting social media pages of celebrities, using them to share crazy and provocative content.
As the controversy surrounding Letoo's Facebook page continues to unfold, many are left wondering if the account has indeed been compromised.
