On June 21, a section of the Kangemi Flyover in Nairobi collapsed, injuring at least three workers, and trapping some under the debris.
According to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), the soil around the retaining wall of the Kangemi bridge was responsible for the collapse.
KeNHA confirmed that two workers sustained minor injuries, while the third suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.
The incident caused a significant traffic jam along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The collapsed flyover is part of the Sh16 billion Waiyaki Way expansion project awarded to China Wu Yi Construction Company.
KeNHA expressed regret over the incident and promised to prioritize safety in all road projects.
