Published on June 22, 2021, a Webuye West constituency family is facing a crisis after their son received an admission letter to Narumoru Girls School in Nyeri County.
Spencer Wangila, who scored 370 marks in his KCPE exams at Misikhu FYM primary school, was surprised to discover that he was allotted to join a girls' school, despite his desire to attend Kimilili Boys School.
Wangila's father, Benard Mukenya, raised the issue with the sub-county education officers, who pledged to amend the gender before form selections. However, the error was not corrected, and Wangila was selected to join a girls' school.
”When my parents went to pick the result slip, we were surprised to learn that it had indicated that I was a girl,” Wangila said.
Benard Mukenya expressed his frustration, stating that the error has resulted in sleepless nights and trauma for the family.
Wangila has requested the education stakeholders to move with speed and assist him before the schools open on August 2.
”I want to request to Education CS George Magoha to come to my assistance so that I can comprehend my dream of becoming a teacher in future,” Wangila requested.
