On Sunday, June 20, at 10pm, a waitress at Shakers Pub in Migori County found herself at the center of a deadly confrontation. The 29-year-old woman, who was in a guest room with another man, was visited by Lucas Chacha, the pub's manager, who had a history with her.
According to the woman's statement to police, Chacha demanded to be let in, but the woman's companion refused, leading to a physical altercation between the two men. The woman managed to escape and hide in the next room, only to be informed later that Chacha had been stabbed and was unconscious.
Police were called to the scene, and upon arrival, they found Chacha with two stab wounds in the chest. The suspect, who had already escaped, is still at large, and a search is ongoing. Chacha's body was taken to St. Akidiva Mindira Hospital morgue for a postmortem.
As reported by The Standard on June 22, 2021, Kuria West Sub-County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo confirmed the ongoing search for the suspect, who can be identified by his physical appearance.
