June 21, 2021, marked a significant step in the global fight against COVID-19 as the White House announced plans to share 55 million vaccine doses with the rest of the world.

According to the White House, 41 million doses will be shared through the COVAX program, with approximately 14 million allocated for Latin America and the Caribbean, 16 million for Asia, and 10 million for Africa.

The remaining 14 million doses will be distributed directly to regional priorities and other recipients, including Afghanistan, Iraq, the West Bank, and Gaza.

The allocation plan is part of the Biden administration's overall framework to share 80 million doses globally by the end of June. However, the administration is expected to fall short of its initial commitment due to logistical challenges.
