On June 22, 2021, a section of Bungoma residents and local women groups rallied around former UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi, dismissing the alleged leaked video as fake and baseless.

According to the residents and women groups, the video being circulated online, which appears to show Mukhisa Kituyi in a compromising position, is a fabrication.

"Our vigilance has been brought out to the FAKE and malicious video doing rounds on social media purporting to be a representation of Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi. Close examination shows it is so fake," the residents said in a statement.

They further denounced the video as a malicious, uncouth, and barbaric act of defamation against a prominent international personality.

"The purpoted manhood doing rounds does not belong to our son, father and brother Mukhisa. We know ourselves," the group of women said in a separate interview.

They also accused the perpetrators of the video of being cowards who instigated the allegations in light of the 2022 General Elections.
