Published on June 22, 2021, a viral video has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many questioning the actions of a man who fought two police officers.

Renowned activist Boniface Mwangi has shared his own painful experience of fighting a police officer in self-defence, warning Kenyans against engaging in physical altercations with law enforcement.

According to Mwangi, he once fought an administration police officer in self-defence at City Hall, but the officer and his colleagues ganged up on him, dragging him to the basement, chaining his hands, and beating him until his saliva dried.

Mwangi was eventually saved by a relative working at City Hall and Ziwani MCA Millicent, who intervened on his behalf.

“I did this once in self-defence at City Hall on an administration police officer, they ganged up, dragged me to the basement, chained my hands on a box and they beat me till my saliva dried,” Mwangi narrated.

He warned Kenyans against engaging in physical altercations with police officers, saying, “A relative working at City Hall and Ziwani MCA Millicent came to my rescue but if they hadn’t, I would have been crippled or murdered. Don’t do it!”
