Applying for a birth or death certificate in Nairobi has become easier with the eCitizen portal and Telkom Kenya's T-Kash payment service. On June 22, 2021, you could follow these steps to get your certificate.
First, log in to the eCitizen portal using your credentials. If you haven't signed up yet, click 'Create an account' and follow the necessary steps. You'll need your mobile phone and national ID card handy.
If you've recently replaced your national ID card, use the old serial number for now, as it may take some time for the new details to be captured and updated on the portal.
Next, go to the Civil Registration Service in the National Services section of the eCitizen dashboard and click on 'Get Service'. Then, click on 'Make Application' and select the service that applies to you: application for a birth or death certificate for a minor or an adult.
Fill in all the necessary details as guided in the online form and upload any required supporting documents. Note that this service is currently open for the registration of births and deaths that happened within the Nairobi area.
At checkout, select Telkom T-Kash as your payment method, follow the payment instructions on-screen, and complete the payment once the transaction has gone through on your phone.
