On June 21, 2021, a section of the Kangemi bridge in Kenya collapsed, sending shockwaves among the public.

According to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), the incident occurred during ongoing works along the James Gichuru-Rironi Road project.

KeNHA reported that the soil around the retaining wall of the Kangemi bridge collapsed, injuring several workers.

One worker was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition, while two others survived the accident with minor injuries.

KeNHA has since apologized for the incident and assured the public that safety will be a top priority in all road projects.
