Chief Justice Koome Transfers 14 Court of Appeal Judges

On June 21, 2021, Chief Justice Martha Koome transferred 14 Court of Appeal judges, marking a significant shift in the judiciary's leadership.

The transfers, which took effect from July 1, 2021, saw several judges relocate to new stations, while others took on new roles. Justice Asike Makhandia, for instance, was relocated from Kisumu to Nairobi as the Head of the Criminal division.

Other notable transfers include Judge S. Gatembu Kairu, who shifted to Mombasa from Nairobi, and Justice Agnes Murgor, who advanced to Nairobi from Malindi.

Kenya's first blind Judge, Dr. Imaana Laibuta, was also dispatched to Nairobi as part of the transfers.

The move comes after the Ministry of Public Service Youth and Gender Affairs honoured Chief Justice Martha Koome with a thanksgiving luncheon on June 18, 2021.
