On June 21, 2021, a woman claiming to be carrying the child of Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka took him to court, seeking Ksh25 million for the unborn baby's support.
The woman, who remains unidentified, alleged that Speaker Lusaka had refused to take responsibility for their unborn child, despite being aware of their mutual understanding of engaging in unprotected intercourse for years.
According to court documents, the woman claimed that she is unemployed and cannot provide for her child's needs, and that Speaker Lusaka had abandoned her since he learnt of her pregnancy.
She further alleged that Speaker Lusaka had ignored her prenatal clinic needs, hoping to stress her and cause a miscarriage of their unborn child.
The court order, sought by her lawyer Danstan Omari, demands that Speaker Lusaka either pay Ksh25 million or provide a monthly upkeep fee of Ksh200,000 to take care of their unborn child's and its mother's needs.
This case comes at a time when prominent leaders are increasingly being entangled in scandals involving young women.
