On June 21, 2021, a devastating incident occurred at a construction site in Kangemi, Nairobi, where a flyover is being constructed as part of Wiayaki Way.

According to eyewitness accounts, soil debris caved in, trapping several people beneath the rubble.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with photos and videos showing tens of people gathered near the scene of the tragedy.

At the time of the accident, engineers had already completed constructing pillars on both ends of the flyover, which would eventually connect the road once completed.

One of the pillars appears to have collapsed, with several people feared trapped in the debris.

As of the time of reporting, three people had been rescued, but the number of victims still trapped in the debris remains unclear.
