On June 30, 2019, detectives from the Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) arrested eight individuals in Dandora on suspicion of operating an illegal alcohol brewing plant.
The raid followed a tip-off from members of the public, and the suspects, including Stephen Wambugu, David Chui, Salome Wanjiru, Wilikister Kemunto, John Mwangi, Daniel Maigwa, Zacharia Macharia, and Peter Maina, are currently in police custody.
The owner of the plant remains at large, and the detectives are continuing their pursuit.
During the raid, several assorted boxes of Star Spirit, Blue Ice Vodka, empty plastics, and Kenya Revenue Authority Corporate stickers were seized.
According to the DCI Kenya Twitter account, the suspects were arrested following a tip-off from the public, and the confiscated items included assorted boxes of Star Spirit, Blue Ice Vodka, empty plastics, and Kenya Revenue Authority Corporate stickers.
Earlier this year, police in Kirinyaga county arrested two individuals and confiscated 31 crates of second-generation brews, while in Samburu central sub-county, 11 suspects were arrested with 9,000 litres of Kangara and 149 litres of Chang'aa during a police crackdown.
