Published on June 21, 2021, a subsidiary of Acorn Holdings has embarked on a Sh1.9 billion project to construct a massive student hostel complex in Nairobi.

The development, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2022, will comprise nine residential blocks on a 5-acre plot, accommodating 3,591 rooms.

The hostels aim to provide safe, secure, and affordable accommodation to students, with charges ranging between Kshs 7,500 and Kshs 16,500 per room, depending on the brand.

The Qwetu Brand, a premium offering, will cost between Kshs 15,000 and Kshs 16,500, while the Qejani brand will be priced between Kshs 7,500 and Kshs 12,500.

Other upcoming projects by the developer include the Kshs 810 million Nairobi West Qwetu hostels targeting Strathmore University, the Kshs 880 million Qwetu 3, and the Kshs 740 million Qwetu 4 developments targeting United States International University Africa (USIU Africa), all set for completion this year.
