On Tuesday night, unknown assailants shot and killed Clinis Atieno Ojenge, a 40-year-old Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teacher at Gul Kagembe primary school in Rangwe Sub County, Homa Bay County.
Two days later, a 22-year-old man from Ndhiwa Sub County visited the mortuary where the teacher's body was being preserved. He followed the proper procedure, identifying himself and the body he wanted to view.
However, upon entering the morgue, the man instead knelt beside the teacher's body and began licking the blood that was oozing from her nose. The mortuary attendants, who had allowed him to view the body, were shocked by his actions and raised an alarm.
The security officer at the county Referral Hospital was notified, and the man was arrested and handed over to the police. He is currently being held at Homa Bay Police station for questioning.
According to Homa Bay Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Mrs. Monica Berege, the police are investigating the incident to determine why the man went to the mortuary and licked the teacher's blood.
