On Thursday, a disturbing incident unfolded in Kabuor Village, East Kamagak Location, Rachuonyo South Sub-County, where a 32-year-old woman was brutally assaulted by her husband, a police officer, after he suspected her of infidelity.
According to the victim's family, the suspect had returned home from duty and began checking his wife's phone messages and call history, which led him to discover numerous calls between his wife and a deputy head teacher of a primary school in the area.
'This discovery made him suspect his wife of having an extra marital affair with the teacher questioning why so many calls were received from him as compared to calls from other people,' said the woman's father, Alfeus Ongóu.
Despite his daughter's attempts to convince him that the calls were related to their children's education, the suspect began beating her and eventually pricked her private parts with nails.
'I am a worried father because my daughter has been assaulted seriously. He went as far as pricking her genitals with nails. I am worried he might kill her,' Ongóu said, adding that the victim reported the matter at Oyugis Police Station at 10pm the same day and sought treatment at Rachuonyo South Sub-County Hospital.
Rachuonyo South Deputy County Commissioner David Kiprop condemned the act, terming it inhuman, and assured the victim of justice once the suspect is apprehended.
