On June 19, 2021, authorities in Kisii town arrested a man for breaching curfew orders, while in Kisumu County, six police officers were detained for violating Covid-19 protocols.
According to a police report, the six Nakuru-based officers were found partying at a popular bar in Nyamasaria, Kisumu County, and were detained at Kondele Police Station.
County Commander Samuel Anampiu stated that the burial of Risper Juma in Muhoroni was supervised by police officers, as the family had failed to bury her within the stipulated hours.
On Thursday, the government imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on 13 Lake Region Economic Block counties to curb the spread of the virus, with authorities warning that all offenders would be nabbed.
County Commissioner Josephine Ouko led heightened patrols to ensure residents observed the revised curfew hours, which now start at 7pm.
