On June 19, 2021, six police officers were arrested in Kisumu's Nyamasaria area for partying past curfew hours.
According to Kisumu County Commander Samuel Anampiu, the officers were found partying with six civilians at 8 p.m., violating the COVID-19 regulations.
The officers, identified as Stanley Kimato, Reuben Ngelech, Vine Okenyo, Angima Harriet, Daniel Maina, and John Ongweno, were detained at Kondele Police Station.
The civilians, including Maureen Adhiambo, Grace Marry Achieng, Eldqueen Wanjala, Juliet Cheruto, Peter Njuguna, and Ronald Orengo, were also detained.
The government had reviewed the curfew to 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. in 13 counties, including Kisumu, to curb the spread of COVID-19.
