On June 19, 2021, six police officers from Nakuru were arrested for violating COVID-19 regulations after being found drunk at a bar in Nyamasaria area, Kisumu.
The officers, who were identified as Stanley Kimato, Reuben Ngelech, Vine Okenyo, Angima Harriet, Daniel Maina, and John Ongweno, were allegedly drinking at the bar at 8 pm.
They were arrested along with six other members of the public, including Maureen Adhiambo, Grace Marry Achieng, Eldqueen Wanjala, Juliet Cheruto, Peter Njuguna, and Ronald Orengo.
According to a police statement, all of them appeared drunk and were taken into custody at Kondele police station, where they were booked at 20:45 pm.
