Kenyan MP Junet Mohammed has cautioned President Uhuru Kenyatta against endorsing Raila Odinga for the presidency in 2022, warning that it would severely damage the ODM party's interests.
Speaking in Migori County on June 29, 2019, Junet stated that if President Uhuru were to endorse Raila, it would make things extremely difficult for the ODM party's leader.
According to reports, Junet has dismissed claims by Deputy President William Ruto that leaders from the Nyanza region are pressuring President Uhuru to endorse Raila for the presidency.
Junet alleged that if President Uhuru were to endorse Raila, it would severely damage the ODM party's interests or disrupt its operations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has remained tight-lipped about who he will endorse for the presidency after his term ends.
"Now that Uhuru has been walking around with Anyang' Nyong'o, people are saying that leaders from Nyanza are saying that Uhuru has endorsed Raila. We have no interest in endorsements... We will be severely harmed if we are endorsed," Junet stated.
