Kenya's Covid-19 positivity rate has risen to 8.1% following the detection of 456 new cases, according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe. This comes as the United States lowers its travel advisory level for Kenya from four to two, easing restrictions for vaccinated Americans.
The new cases comprise 424 Kenyans and 32 foreigners, with 266 males and 190 females affected. The youngest patient is a two-month-old infant, while the oldest is 92 years old.
Kenya's total confirmed positive cases now stand at 176,137, with cumulative tests conducted reaching 1,876,105. In the last 24 hours, 535 patients have recovered from the disease, with 439 from the Home Based and Isolation Care program and 96 from various health facilities countrywide.
Unfortunately, 7 people have succumbed to the disease, with 6 of these deaths reported after facility record audits in June. This brings the cumulative fatalities to 3,428. A total of 975 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities, while 4,716 patients are under the Home Based Isolation and Care program.
As of today, a total of 1,138,748 vaccines have been administered across the country, with 989,422 first doses and 149,326 second doses given. The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 15.0%, with the majority being males at 56.4% and females at 43.6%.
