Published on June 15, 2021, the Ministry of Health has reported 456 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total positivity rate to 8.1%.
The cases were reported from a sample size of 5,626, with 424 being Kenyans and 32 foreigners. The age range of the cases is from a two-month-old infant to a 92-year-old.
The total number of confirmed positive cases now stands at 176,137, while the cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,876,105.
The counties with the highest number of cases are Nairobi with 116, followed by Kisumu with 66, Busia with 42, and Siaya with 30.
During the same period, 535 patients recovered from the disease, with 439 recovering from the Home Based and Isolation Care program and 96 from various health facilities countrywide.
The total recoveries now stand at 120,894, with 87,967 from the Home Based Care and 5 Isolation program, and 32,927 from various health facilities countrywide.
Unfortunately, 7 people have succumbed to the disease, with one death occurring in the last 24 hours and six reported after conducting Facility Record Audits in June.
According to the Ministry of Health, 975 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,716 patients are under the Home Based Isolation and Care program.
Additionally, 100 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 29 on ventilatory support and 59 on supplemental oxygen.
The Ministry further reports that 110 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, with 105 in general wards and 5 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
On the ongoing vaccination exercise, 1,138,748 vaccines have been administered across the country, with 89,422 first doses and 149,326 second doses.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 15.0%, with the majority being males at 56.4% and females at 43.6%.
