As of June 15, 2021, Kenya reported 456 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to 176,137. The COVID-19 positivity rate now stands at 8.1%.
Of the new cases, 424 are Kenyans, while 32 are foreigners. The cases comprise 266 males and 190 females, with the youngest being a two-month-old infant and the oldest being 92 years old.
The Ministry of Health has reported that 535 patients have recovered from the disease, with 439 recovering from the Home Based and Isolation Care program and 96 from various health facilities countrywide.
According to the Ministry, a total of 7 people have succumbed to the disease, with 1 death occurring in the last 24 hours and 6 being late deaths reported after conducting Facility Record Audits on diverse dates in June.
As of the reporting date, 975 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,716 patients are under the Home Based Isolation and Care program.
The Ministry further reports that 100 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 29 on ventilatory support and 59 on supplemental oxygen. Additionally, 12 other patients are under observation.
On the ongoing vaccination exercise, 1,138,748 vaccines have so far been administered across the country, with 89,422 being first doses and 149,326 being second doses.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 15.0%, with the majority being males at 56.4% and females at 43.6%. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is less than 1%.
